“First things first…”

My name is Alan. I am a Dutch-Indonesian photographer and storyteller with a professional background in hospitality and travel. After earning my double bachelor’s degree in International Hospitality Management in Bali, Indonesia, I travelled across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East to hone my skills and grow both personally and professionally.

Having worked for some of the most luxurious hotels and resorts, I gained invaluable experience and insights in the industry. In hospitality, I provided service excellence to my guests, led and developed operational teams, and coordinated marketing and communications for multiple hotels to enhance the guest journey and brand experience.

“So, why did I choose to become a photographer and storyteller?”

My photography journey began at a young age. The ability to freeze a moment in time and tell captivating visual stories has always been a big part of me. Over the years, my technical skills have grown considerably, and I have been frequently commended on my ability to communicate and connect with people.

Through my encounters with people worldwide, I developed a genuine interest in listening to their stories. It’s one of the most fascinating aspects about humanity. We have the ability to take someone on a journey full of experiences, imagination, and emotions by the way we communicate.

Stories can be told in various ways. From photographs painting a thousand words to a story told over a cup of coffee. I have always been intrigued by why we enjoy listening to one person while we fall asleep listening to another. It has also fascinated me how we are able to have a, often irrational, preference for a brand simply using communication and storytelling.

My talent for photography and storytelling, combined with my keen interest in hospitality and travel, makes this an excellent journey for me to pursue. Through the art of communication and storytelling, I am eager to master the techniques which influence our behaviours
